Description:Shaw House opposite the Red Grouse Public House circa 1900. Shay House Lane was named after it. It was one of the few residential buildings to be named in the Census, probably built for a farm manager of Spink Hall. In 1891 the householder was John Dimelow aged 32, a coalminer. Thomas was the head of the family in 1901 and died there in 1910 aged 80. The Hollings family also lived there,John Holling being a coalmerchant. His daughter Rosemary became Mrs.M.R. Smith J.P.
