Description:The Stocksbridge and District Division of the St Johns Ambulance Brigade can be seen here on duty at the rough-riding (motor bike scrambling) which took place each Sunday at Langsett between the wars. The attendant is possibly Mr Calton. The Stocksbridge Brigade was founded in 1908 with headquarters at the Stocksbride Works School. The superintendent was John Cutts Kenworthy and the honorary surgen was Dr Mossman. First aid classes (for men only) were held at the Works School.
