Description:Stocksbridge Working Men's Club and Institute the "Peggy Tub" cutting of the first sod, performed by Mr. Thomas Vardy who taught at the Works School and the British Hall School. It opened April 6th 1919. Its name of the Peggy Tub is believed to be because the original building was of wood construction and had the appearance of an old Tub.
