Description:Manchester road Scotch Row was the name of the houses in the immediate foreground of this photograph and was located opposite the Clock Tower gardens. The name was derived from the method of construction rather than the origin of their occupants. They were back to back houses, their occupants in 1891 being the families of Ashforth, Birch, Sharpe, Briggs, Wilson, Ramsden, Gillot, Naylor, Liles, Jackson and Day. Joseph Jackson of 124 Scotch Row was in 1909, the Secretary of Sheffield Equalised Independent Druids, Stocksbridge Branch. The lodge had 428 members and met at the Congregational School.
