Judd Fields

Judd Fields was once part of a route known as Halifax Gate, which was used for transporting goods between places like Grindleford, Bamford in Derbyshire to Towns and Cities like Leeds in Yorkshire.

It traversed through the district passing Broomhead Hall, onto Midhopestones onto Penistone and then onwards yet again.

This old route became known as Mortimer Road when it was upgrade into a Turnpiked road in the 1770s.

For more information on Judd Fields and Mortimer Road see our section about Midhopestones and the surrounding area.
